THE 2009 MILLER-METEOR REUNION

The 2009 Miller-Meteor Reunion was held over Labor Day Weekend, 2009 in Piqua Ohio.  Included events were a tour of Eagle Coach Company in Amelia, Ohio, C. W. Coach Company in Cincinnati and a side trip to the former H&E plant in Rossmoyne.  And that was just the first day!

Friday, day two, found the M-M'ers traveling to the Logan County Historical Society in Bellefontaine, then touring the former A. J. Miller plant, also in Bellefontaine.  A tour of Accubuilt and the dinner celebration with the M-M retirees in Piqua rounded out the day, but not before lots of parking lot visiting!

Saturday was the tour of the Clark Street plant of Meteor and, later, Miller-Meteor, and a recreation of the fateful day in September 1979 when the last funeral coach rolled out of the Clark Street doors.  The Piqua Heritage Festival was the next stop, where the professional cars were displayed.  A group dinner followed by more parking lot visiting rounded out the 2009 Reunion.  Special guests abounded at the event, and a very special announcement was made (see the M-M Book page on this website!).

A 2009 Eagle Chrysler Funeral Van greeted us upon our arrival at Eagle Coach Company in Amelia, Ohio. A view of only a small part of the lot a CW Coach Sales.
A 2009 Eagle Cadillac Ultimate Elite was ready for delivery later that day. A few of us took a quick side trip to the Rossmoyne neighborhood to Blue Ash Road.  Almost unrecognizable from the front because of an addition, this is the former Hess & Eisenhardt/S&S manufacturing facility.

Now with doors in place and in primer, the exterior finishing can begin. Fred McPeck (in cap and shorts), a former Miller employee, presented many interesting insights into how Miller professional cars were engineered and built in this very building.

The most unusual colors on hearses make the most distinctive presentations! Newly purchased from C.W. Coach in Cincinnati, this S&S Masterpiece made an appearance at the Reunion.
You never know what might be hiding in the deep, dark recesses of Eagle Coach Co.! A 1948 Henney Packard, originally from West Union, Ohio, made an appearance in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn in Piqua!
